Patriotic Service at Christ United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 26, 2007:

Luther McCartney, who survived the sinking of the USS President Coolidge, during World War 2 was honored with a Citation and Medallion. Rep. Jerry Stern, left, is shown with the honoree, and with Pastor Barry Neal of Christ United Methodist Church, where the patriotic program was held. Virgie Werner was the coordinator and organizer of this wonderful event.

Col. Wallace A. Burkett, was in the Armed Forces for 34 years before retirement. He was a Prisoner of war for 11 months.

Daughters of the late Hayden Walk, Denise Crispell and Connie Shaffer, received a citation and medallion honoring Corporal Walk, who was captured during the Battle of the Bulge.

Mrs. Ethel Eschbach received the medallion and citation given for her late husband, Staff Sgt. Kenneth Eschbach, who was a Prisoner of War for ten months during World War 2. He was a tail gunner on a B-17.
